The Anti-Aging Skin Stack – Part 2: The Structural Layer
This is Part 2 of the Anti-Aging Skin Stack series. Part 1 covers the internal and systemic interventions – NMN, TMG, collagen, GHK-Cu, and Tremella mushroom. Start there if you haven’t already.
The supplements and injections in Part 1 work at the cellular level. What follows works at the structural level – lymphatic drainage, red light therapy, clinical procedures, and the testing that tells you whether any of it is actually moving the needle. These are the interventions that change how your skin looks and functions from the outside in.
Lymphatic drainage and structural support.
The lymphatic system is your body’s waste-clearance network for the face – it removes inflammatory byproducts, excess fluid, and metabolic waste that accumulate under the skin. When it’s sluggish, the result is puffiness, dull tone, and a loss of definition in facial contours. Regular drainage reverses this.
A gua sha tool used correctly – always upward strokes, always on cleansed and oiled skin, always with enough pressure to move fluid but not drag – is the most accessible entry point. Castor oil is the base I use: it has documented anti-inflammatory properties, supports lymphatic flow, and is one of the few topical oils with genuine mechanistic evidence behind it rather than just anecdote.
A castor oil pack applied to the lower abdomen three times per week also supports liver detoxification – relevant here because the liver is one of the primary routes for clearing the inflammatory byproducts and excess estrogen that accelerate skin aging. Most people think of this as a gut or hormonal tool. It’s also a skin tool.
Red light therapy.
Near-infrared and red light wavelengths penetrate tissue at a depth topicals cannot reach, stimulating collagen production, reducing inflammation, and accelerating cellular repair. The evidence base has matured significantly – this has moved from biohacker territory into mainstream dermatology.
The Bon Charge infrared mask delivers these wavelengths directly to facial tissue in a 10-minute daily session. It’s the most practical home device in this category: hands-free, consistent dosing, and built around the specific wavelengths with the strongest clinical evidence. Used consistently over 8–12 weeks, the improvement in skin texture and tone is visible.
Clinical procedures worth knowing about.
For those open to clinical investment: BBL (BroadBand Light) and Halo laser – every 2–3 years – address pigmentation and stimulate collagen at a level no home device can replicate. These are not entry-level interventions, but they belong in an honest protocol because the results are categorically different from anything available at home.
Neither is urgent. Both are worth planning for once the foundational protocol – sleep, NMN, collagen, red light – has been running consistently for at least six months.
Track whether it’s working.
Skin appearance is a lagging indicator. By the time you can see improvement, the biological changes that drove it happened weeks or months earlier. The way to know whether the protocol is working before your mirror tells you is biomarker testing.
InsideTracker runs a comprehensive blood panel and breaks down the specific markers driving biological aging – inflammation, hormones, nutrient deficiencies – with actionable recommendations for each. TruDiagnostic’s TruAge test goes further, measuring your epigenetic biological age directly from a blood sample. Run a baseline before you start the protocol. Retest at six months. The data removes guesswork entirely.
THE PROTOCOL
Everything in this post, condensed. Start here if you’re short on time.
Do this:
- Gua sha with castor oil – upward strokes, 5 minutes, on cleansed skin, daily
- Castor oil pack on lower abdomen – 3x per week, liver detoxification and lymphatic support
- Bon Charge infrared mask – 10 minutes daily, consistent use over 8–12 weeks for visible results
Take this:
- Morning matcha instead of a second coffee – DoMatcha for EGCG and L-theanine
- Simply Nootropics EU NMN – cellular repair at the NAD+ level
- Simply Nootropics EU TMG – always paired with NMN, non-negotiable
- Health Nag Hydrolyzed Collagen – 10–15g daily, dissolves in any liquid
- Dirtea Tremella – daily hydration support at the cellular level; pairs well with NMN and collagen
Invest in this:
- Bon Charge infrared mask – red light collagen stimulation at home
- Run an InsideTracker baseline panel before starting the protocol – retest at 6 months
- TruDiagnostic TruAge test – your epigenetic biological age, measured directly
- BBL + Halo laser – every 2–3 years, when the foundational protocol is running consistently
Part 1 of this series covers the internal layer – NMN, TMG, collagen, GHK-Cu injection, and Tremella mushroom.
